Department of Energy(DOE), Rocky Flats Environmental Technology Site, CO 

 SUMMIT personnel managed numerous tasks valued at $750,000 related to hazardous and radioactive mixed waste, RCRA permitting, and developing a site-wide RI/FS under RCRA and CERCLA at Rocky Flats for the DOE.  SUMMIT participated in a consultative process with state and federal agencies to successfully implement a risk-based approach to site cleanup. 

The scope of services included:

  • Preparing the Sitewide RI/FS Work Plan
  • Preparing portions of the Comprehensive Risk Assessment
  • Preparing the Data Adequacy Report for RI/FS and Comprehensive Risk Assessment
  • Preparing Technical Memoranda establishing cleanup goals/levels for environmental media and identifying long-term stewardship activities

The project required significant interface with the USEPA and the CDPHE in order to attain No Further Action approvals, and to provide a risk assessment that all parties, including US Fish and Wildlife, were in agreement in agreement of.
